PCPA Home PageNew Resources for Economic DevelopmentThe Portage County Port Authority (PCPA) was created by the Portage County Board of Commissioners to provide an additional economic development tool for Portage County. The area of jurisdiction of the Port Authority includes all of Portage County, with the exception of those townships which currently have a Port Authority. The Port Authority is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors,
which are appointed by the County Commissioners. Port Authority
Board members are appointed from a variety of professions and
disciplines, which includes education, labor, printing & publishing,
financial, insurance and real estate. See the

New Financing Tool for Economic DevelopmentThe Portage County Port Authority has an agreement with the Summit County Port Authority to provide financing for projects within Portage County. Financing options include Fixed-Rate Bond Fund Finance and Off-Balance Sheet Financing for both public and private projects. Some projects may qualify for tax exempt bond financing. First Project - Cascades of BrimfieldThe first project to receive financing through this agreement is the Cascades mixed use development located at Tallmadge Road and I-76 in Brimfield Township. The infrastructure necessary for the project, water, sewer, road work and signals were financed through a tax exempt bond issued by the Summit County Port Authority.
