JOB TITLE:   HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

 

LOCATION:   Ravenna, Ohio

 

DEPARTMENT:   Human Resources

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s degree in human resources, business or public administration or related field from an accredited college or university and five years of advanced level experience managing human resources operations.  Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain continuing eligibility under the existing County driver eligibility standards.

 

CHARACTERISTIC JOB DUTIES:  Manages all human resources functions for the departments under the Board of Commissioners.  Directs the administration of employee benefits, safety and risk management, and workers’ compensation for all departments of the County.  Provides human resources services to other elected officials’ departments upon request.  Manages and coordinates all phases of the recruiting process.  Formulates personnel policies and develops methods and procedures for their effective implementation; provides interpretation of County policies, procedures, rules and federal laws.  Provides technical advice on personnel matters and explains procedures to department directors, supervisors and employees; investigates and resolves personnel-related complaints.  Participates in labor negotiations, assists in labor contract administration and interpretation, and participates in grievance-handling, mediation and arbitration activities.  Administers classification and compensation system; coordinates market review and update of pay ranges; writes job descriptions and coordinates job evaluation activities; administers Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance.  Assesses training needs and plans training activities.  Directs the development, implementation and coordination of safety programs for the County.  Manages the periodic review and renewal of the County’s insurance coverage.  Develops, implements and monitors departmental budget.  Supervises support and clerical staff.

 

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:      Salary:  $53,560 - $75,670 DOQ
