Requirements for Passports NEW: Clerk of Courts now offers Passport ServicesPassport applications can be downloaded from http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html or application can be picked up at the Auto Title Dept. See the Requirements for Passports page for more details. The BMV Citizens Advisory CommitteeA toll-free number and an e-mail address has been implemented
for Ohioans to address any comments or recommendations in
reference to BMV. Ohioans who wish to discuss an individual case
must continue to call 614-752-7500 The Portage County Auto Title
Department is responsible for assisting the public over the
counter and on the telephone. The department is also
responsible for filing and recording liens on titles and issuing
memorandum or duplicate titles on titled vehicles. It
maintains titled vehicle records, notarizes title documents,
conducts title searches and cancels liens that have been
satisfied.
Vehicle InspectionAn Ohio physical inspection is required on vehicles with an out of state title. The information on the inspection form must match the out of state title. No inspection is required with a manufacturer's certificate of origin. E-CHECKMost vehicles require an E-Check for the purchase of license plates and registration. For information on E-Check you must contact 1-800-CAR-TEST or your local license bureau. The Auto Title Department does not require E-Check to transfer a title.
